WFVFD Says Goodbye to past President Coll

Today members held a memorial service for past President and Firefighter/EMT John Coll. John, born June 23, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio, was a US Air Force veteran and worked as a systems analyst for BAE Systems for many years. He joined the WFVFD in 1993 and served as President from 1995-2011 while maintaining his operational status. He also was President of the Howard County Volunteer Firefighters Association from 1999 to 2005. After moving to Western Maryland, he joined the Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad.
As President of the WFVFD, John guided the department through an era of many changes and modernization and will always be remembered for his service, friendship, and his efforts in building our current fire station.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Lynn (Mohr) Coll; one son, John (Kathleen) Coll, Sykesville, MD; one daughter, Tiana (Steve) Harbin, Woodbine, MD; one brother, William E. (Judy) Coll, Jr., Ansted, WV; two step-grandchildren, Jaxon and Jeremy.
