Remembering Erik

Members assembled at the station today to remember Paramedic Captain Erik Steciak, who passed away one year ago today at the age of 29. A longtime member here at WFVFD, Erik was working as a paramedic at the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company when he was fatally struck by a vehicle on January 6, 2015.
This evening we invited Erik's parents and friends to the firehouse where we had dinner and a service in his honor. Several members of Bel Air VFC attended as well as DFRS and county officials. Although it brought back somber memories, the stories about Erik and the fellowship were a nice reminder that while Erik left us too soon, he left a huge impression on all he met.
