15:02 this afternoon, units responded for the rescue with unknown injuries on Route 32. Callers advised that a vehicle was off the road and into the trees, and that power lines were down and creating sparks. Upon arrival on Route 32 at Fox Chase Road, Paramedic 45 located a single vehicle that was indeed off the roadway and into the trees after striking a Baltimore Gas and Electric pole. Downed live wires created a small brush fire near the vehicle. The single occupant self-extricated himself from the vehicle and was treated and transported priority 1 to University of Maryland's Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by Paramedic 135. Chief 3A held the command, and Route 32 remained closed between Rosemary Lane and Route 144 until about 21:00 while BGE and Verizon worked to replace the pole and equipment.
