On Saturday, members took the long trip from Station 3 to the Howard County Public Safety Training Center to join with Howard County Fire and Police units and personnel from the Howard County Health Department, Public Works, Corrections, Animal Control, and Communications for the Personal Preparedness Public Safety Expo. These departments, along with non-governmental agencies like RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service), CERN (Community Emergency Response Network), and MSAR (Maryland Search and Rescue) came together to showcase their resources to respond to a large scale emergency in Howard County.
The WFVFD brought Tower 3, Tanker 3, and Ambulance 36 and participated in structural fire attack and vehicle fire attack simulations. Units cleared at approximately 15:00 and were happy to participate and showcase their skills and equipment.
On Sunday, Ambulance 36 along with Ambulance 56 (Fifth District VFD) responded to the Howard County Fairgrounds to stand by for the Drive-Thru Flu Clinic sponsored by the Howard County Health Department. This exercise provided citizens of Howard County the flu vaccine free of charge, as well as tested the county's ability to immunize county residents on a large scale in the event of an emergency. Thankfully, the volunteers were not needed to handle any medical incidents other than provide a Band-Aid or two.
