A serious motor vehicle accident in the 3-5 box sent two people to Shock Trauma early Thursday morning. At 02:03 Paramedic 35, Engine 31, and Rescue Squad 5 were alerted to respond for the accident reported with injuries at Triadelphia Road and Roxbury Road.
Howard County Communications advised responding units that the call came in from a third party caller who informed the call taker that her 16 year old son, who was involved in the crash, took the vehicle without her permission and that he did not have a driver's license. Interestingly, in February, units from WFVFD responded to a motor vehicle accident less than a mile from this location that also involved a young driver without a driver's license who took a vehicle without permission from his parents. As units were responding, information from additional callers led the assignment to be upgraded to a rescue with entrapment, bringing Chief 3, Paramedic 55, Engine 51, EMS 2, and Battalion Chief 2.
Paramedic 35 arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle into a tree with two patients and no entrapment. Crews from 35 and Engine 31 quickly assessed and packaged the two patients who were transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore by Paramedic 35 and Paramedic 55. Crews from Squad 5 and Engine 51 assisted units already on scene, and units cleared at 02:54.
