At 21:33 the Friday Night Duty Crew was alerted for the rescue with entrapment on MD Route 32 in the area of the Howard/Carroll County border in the 3-65 box. The Friday Crew responded with Tower 3, Engine 31, Engine 32, Paramedic 35, Chief 3, and Chief 3B with a total of 17 volunteers while still having Tanker 3 staffed in quarters. While en-route crews received confirmation of entrapment from an off duty Anne Arundel County Firefighter who was on location. Arriving first, Tower 3 surveyed the scene and found a three vehicle accident with one patient trapped within their vehicle on Rt. 32 just north of Amberwoods Way. Tower 3's Captain (Sosebee) established the Rt. 32 command and the Tower crew began stabilizing the vehicle, lighting the scene, and extricating the patient. Engine 32 arrived shortly after and pulled a protection line for the extrication. Upon the arrival of Chief 3 (Day), command was transitioned and Tower 3's Captain (Sosebee) was assigned to Rescue. In less than 5 minutes the Tower crew (Trenary, Gain, Whitcomb, Bintz) had the patient extricated utilizing the Holmatro spreaders and "O" cutters. Carroll Ambulance 127 (Sykesville) obtained a patient refusal while Paramedic 35 transported a priority 3 patient to Howard County General. Crews remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes to assist County Police.
