Early this morning Station 3 was alerted for the working house fire in Dayton. Units responded to the 5000 block of Ten Oaks Road at 00:14. Upon arrival Engine 51 found a two story log cabin type residence with fire showing. Due to the volume of fire the decision was made to mount a defensive attack. Tower 3, first arriving aerial, threw ground ladders and placed lights around the building and laddered the roof. Engine 32's crew was used in fire attack while Tanker 3, Tanker 34, and Tanker 17 (housed at Station 3) shuttled water to the fireground. Water Supply 3 set up a fill site at Dayton Oaks Elementary School and used 26,000 gallons of water from the cistern there. A secondary fill site was set up at a cistern across the road after exhausting the water at the school. Units remained on scene for much of the night and morning while the Office of the Fire Marshal conducted its investigation, and no injuries to either the home's occupants or firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
