George David Saunders, 66, of Sykesville, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born Sept. 4, 1944, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late George Noble and Helen Louise Hatfield Saunders.
Twice married, he was the husband of Diana Lee Jennings Saunders and the late Linda J. Saunders.
He was a retired firefighter from Howard County Fire & Rescue. He was a member of the West Friendship volunteer fire company for 50 years. He enjoyed cutting the lawn and firefighting.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Edmund Saunders, of Mount Airy; daughter and son-in-law Helen L. and George Baumgardner Jr., of Ellicott City; a stepson, Stephen R. Gladmon, of Westminster; stepdaughters Lari Ann Kimball, of Westminster, and Terri Lee Bollinger, of Pennsylvania; brothers Frank and Carl Saunders, both of Ellicott City, and Bill Saunders, of Woodlawn; and grandchildren Alex, Savannah, Kyra, Matthew, Brittany, Johnathan, Joshua and Luke.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville.
