Members from West Friendship were woken up early this morning when the tones went off for a possible house fire at 04:21. Communications advised that a caller could see a fire through the woods from his home on Gaither Road but was not sure where exactly it was.
After searching the area of Gaither Road and the Carroll County line, units located the fire off of Gaither Road on the Carroll County side. Engine 31, first arriving engine, found a barn well involved in fire with the roof already collapsed. 31's crew laid a supply line down the driveway and pulled two attack lines to protect exposures.
The homeowner, asleep at the time of the fire, advised units that there was hay, animals, and a camper in the barn.
Tankers 3 and 34 were utilized (along with units from Sykesville and Lisbon) for water supply while crews from 31, Tower 3, and Sykesville Engines 123 and 124 worked to protect exposures. Units from West Friendship cleared the scene at 07:30.
