President's Message

Welcome to the West Friendship VFD web site.  We have been in existence for over 75 years and remain committed to providing Fire Suppression and EMS services to residents of West Friendship, MD and surrounding communities.  If you have driven by our station, you know that it is quite large and equally full of fire suppression apparatus and EMS units, including 2 medic units, 2 engines, 1 tower/ladder truck, 3 water tankers, 1 water supply unit, and an assortment of smaller equipment including specialty ATV and brush units.  

We have Howard County DFRS career staffing during the day and combination staffing overnight with sleep-in coverage provided by 4-6 volunteer members each night of the year.  Additionally, we have many members who live within the area and are able to respond to the station for larger-scale calls, to staff additional equipment and provide additional manpower to incidents in our jurisdiction or elsewhere in Howard/Carroll county.  Our volunteer members provide this service 52 weeks a year plus additional time for training and company functions, all at no charge to Howard County taxpayers.

In addition to our emergency response members, West Friendship VFD also includes numerous Administrative members who help with our fundraising efforts at the Howard County Fair and with the many administrative duties that are part of running a fire department.
