Abandoned House Fire

A fire in an abandoned house woke crews up early and kept them working for much of Wednesday morning. At 06:02 Wednesday, units from West Friendship and Ellicott City Stations 8 and 2 were alerted for smoke coming from a house on Marriottsville Road in the area of the Alpha Ridge Landfill. Engine 82 arrived on the scene at 2200 Marriottsville Road in the 8-9 box to find fire in the basement and through the roof of a vacant structure.
Units quickly went to a defensive mode after conducting a primary search to verify that the house was unoccupied due to the large amount of fire and because the house was abandoned. Units from Station 3 cleared at 08:48.
