| On Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008 around 07:00 am, Station 3's Engine 31 and Tower 3 were alerted to assist on a two alarm apartment fire in the 8600 block of Town and Country Boulevard in Ellicott City.
When they arrived on location flames had already engulfed the roof of one of the three story buildings. Engine 31's officer handled the staging division while the rest of Engine 31's crew joined Engine 101's crew. Tower 3's crew was assigned RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) responsibilities and later was assigned overhaul responsibilities. The blaze was so intense that firefighters were forced to battle the flames from an exterior position. Two firefighters suffering minor injuries were taken to Howard County General Hospital and later released with non-life threatening injuries. At least 18 people were displaced by the blaze and the Red Cross was on the scene to assist the families. |
