| Thousands of visitors gathered this weekend at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship for the 53rd annual Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, one of the nation’s largest celebrations of sheep agriculture and fiber arts. The festival, held each year during the first weekend in May, drew farmers, artisans, vendors, and fiber enthusiasts from across the region for a weekend filled with workshops, live demonstrations, shopping, and family-friendly activities. Attendees enjoyed sheep shearing exhibitions, sheepdog herding demonstrations, artisan displays, and a wide variety of food offerings throughout the event. Members of WFVFD were on site throughout the weekend providing fire and emergency medical services to ensure the safety of festivalgoers. Thanks to the Ellicott City VFD and HCDFRS for assisting. Organizers say the annual festival continues to serve as a major gathering for the fiber arts and agricultural communities while showcasing Maryland’s rich farming traditions. |
