Members opened the doors of the station today for our annual Open House in recognition of the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week. Fire Prevention Week was started in 1922 to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire which occurred on October 8, 1871 and caused great destruction and loss of life. This year’s theme is “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape.” Planning ahead in the event of a house fire is key to survival. See the link below for some excellent fire safety information and resources from the National Fire Protection Association. Visitors to the station enjoyed meeting our members, touring the station and equipment, learning about fire safety, participating in demonstrations, and learning about volunteer opportunities with us. Thanks to all who came out, we enjoyed meeting you!
