At 19:14 this evening Howard County 911 began receiving calls of a fire in the 13400 block of Frederick Road in West Friendship. WFVFD and surrounding companies were quickly alerted to respond.
Upon arrival Engine 31 found a large L-shaped barn that contained animals and equipment fully involved in fire and began an exterior attack.
Water Supply 3 and Engine 32 set up water supply from a pond on the property, utilizing relay pumpers to get water on the fire.
Chief 3 held the command and units operated until 00:37. Preliminary reports indicate the fire may have started with a generator-powered heater in use in the barn. No injuries were reported but several animals perished in the fire.
