We remembered Life Member Firefighter Carl Buell today on the first anniversary of his untimely passing. Members took apparatus to St. John's Cemetery to honor Carl's lifelong service and membership with the WFVFD.
At 15:50, units were alerted for a rescue with entrapment on Route 32 near River Road. Engine 31, Engine 32, Tower 3, Paramedic 35, Ambulance 36, and Chief 3A arrived on Route 32 between River Road and Day Road and found a single vehicle overturned with one subject trapped. Tower 3 extricated the single patient who was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore via Maryland State Police Trooper 3.
Then at 21:46 units were dispatched to Eastbound I-70 at the Route 40 split for a vehicle flipped over. Units arrived to find a vehicle over the guardrail well off the roadway down an embankment with two priority 1 patients. Both patients were removed to the roadway, where one was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center via Maryland State Police Trooper 3 and the other was transported priority 1 to Howard County General Hospital by Paramedic 35. I-70 Eastbound remained closed while the Maryland State Police Crash Team conducted its investigation.
