It is with great sadness that the West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department must announce the unexpected passing of Firefighter Carl Buell, life member and Board of Directors Chairman. He was 56 years old. Carl, a Howard County native, joined the WFVFD in 1981 and was an active operational member in addition to performing administrative duties on the Board. He worked for many years at his family's restaurant, Buell's, in Ellicott City before its closure in the 1990's.

Please keep the Buell family, wife Donna, son William, daughter Jessica, and granddaughter Olivia in your thoughts during this trying time.

Friends may call at Slack Funeral Home, 3871 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043, on Wednesday April 24, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday April 26, 2019 at 11 am. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Mr. Buell's name may be directed to West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 439, West Friendship, MD 21794-0439 or the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 7523.

The WFVFD will hold a memorial service at the station on Saturday May 4, 2019 at 11:00 to celebrate Carl's life and service.
