At 22:43 tonight Station 3 was alerted for the rescue with unknown injuries on I-70 eastbound at the Route 40 split, bringing Engine 31, Paramedic 35, and Ambulance 36 to the scene. Upon arrival in the area units were not able to find a collision and continued to check I-70 until locating it on the westbound side just prior to Route 29. Three vehicles including a passenger vehicle, an SUV, and a truck with a car carrier trailer were involved and there were no injuries. Occupants of one of the vehicles fled the scene on foot and at least one of them was apprehended by Howard County Police on I-70 near the Baltimore County line. Westbound lanes were shut down for a short time and units cleared the scene at 23:21.
