Tonight Station 3 and surrounding companies responded for a house fire in Glenwood. At 20:58 units were alerted to respond to 2600 McKendree Road in the 13-09 box for the report of a garage fire called in by multiple callers. Upon arrival Engine 131 laid out from McKendree Road and immediately requested the Task Force and Second Alarm be dispatched due to the large amount of fire. Arriving units took up a defensive position while Water Supply 3 established a draft site at the river at McKendree Road and Rover Mill Road. Working for Chief 3, water supply units utilized the river and the cistern at Station 13 to shuttle water to the fireground. Units maintained defensive operations utilizing multiple hand lines and master streams and the fire was declared out several hours later. A salt truck from Howard County Highways was requested to mitigate ice forming on the street, and fortunately a heated barn on the property was able to be used for firefighter rehab. Units cleared at 03:41. The fire is under investigation by the HCDFRS Office of the Fire Marshal.
