| The West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind you that Daylight Saving Time is this weekend.
We will set our clocks ahead one hour, this Sunday March 9. The date is a few weeks eariler this year after a bill passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush.
Firefighters would like to urge area residents to change the batteries in their smoke alarms when changing their clocks this weekend. Even if residents have a hardwired system in their homes, the smoke alarms have battery backups in case of power failure.
As always, if residents do not have a properly working smoke alarm in their home, West Friendship firefighters will provide one to them, free of charge.
