Collision on I-70 Snarls Morning Traffic

Early this morning units from West Friendship responded for a reported motor vehicle collision on I-70. At 06:11 the tones sounded for the rescue with unknown injuries on eastbound I-70 near Marriottsville Road. Units located the incident about a mile east of Marriottsville Road, finding a collision involving two tractor trailers, a Howard County Utilities vehicle, and passenger vehicles. One driver was assessed and transported to Howard County General Hospital priority 3. The tractor trailer pictured was hauling forklifts which shifted forward and went through the front of the trailer.
Eastbound I-70 remained closed for several hours while Maryland State Police investigated and clean up continued.
