Engine 32 responded to the 8-11 box this afternoon for a residential fire alarm. At 15:58, the engine was dispatched to the 10100 block of Maplewood Drive in Ellicott City for a fire alarm on the first floor. Engine 32 arrived to find the homeowner attempting to clear the residence of smoke. Upon investigation it was determined that the smoke was due to a malfunction in the fireplace. Engine 32 ventilated and checked for hazards related to the fireplace. Finding none, 32 cleared at 16:38.
