West Friendship dumped house tonight on a first due fire in Glenelg. At 23:20, units were alerted for a house fire on Bold Ruler Court. A caller who lives in the area advised that a house "blew up" and was on fire. Additional callers pinpointed the location to the 13700 block of Bold Venture Drive in the 3-48 box. While units were en route the homeowners were able to confirm that all eight occupants of the home were out and accounted for. (Two canines were later removed from the residence, none the worse for wear.)
Upon arrival Engine 31 found a single family home with fire in the attached garage extending into the home, bringing the task force dispatch to the scene. Crews from Engine 31, 32, and 131 entered the residence to begin initial fire attack while water supply was set up at the intersection of Snow Chief Road and Bold Venture Drive. Tankers shuttled water from the cistern at Glenelg High School to the water supply site to provide water for fire attack, using over 11,000 gallons from the cistern.
The fire was placed out at 02:01 after crews, working with the Office of the Fire Marshal investigators, conducted salvage and overhaul. There were no injuries to the occupants or firefighters and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Chief 3 held the command, Chief 3A had Operations. Units cleared at 02:50.
