Car Into Tree on I-70

At 12:36 WFVFD and surrounding companies were alerted for the rescue with entrapment on I-70. Tower 3 and Chief 3A responded for a reported red car into a tree. Upon arrival at eastbound I-70 east of Rt. 97 units located the vehicle off the slow shoulder and began assessing the single patient who was trapped. Tower 3 handled the extrication working with Rescue Engine 4 and Tower 2 to remove the occupant. After packaging the patient was transported priority 1 to Shock Trauma in Baltimore by Paramedic 135, as aviation was not available due to the weather conditions.
Eastbound I-70 was shut down in the area while units operated on scene. Chief 3A worked as the Safety Officer and units cleared at 13:26.
