Members and area residents continue to dig out after this weekend's record breaking snowfall - the highest official snow accumulation in the area was reported in Columbia at 28.8 inches. WFVFD maintained multiple crews throughout the weekend, answering calls with the help of the Maryland National Guard and county and state plow crews, who assisted us in making access to neighborhoods and driveways that had not been cleared. According to the Howard County Government, all but about 60 of the over 4100 county roads have now been plowed. Remember that sight distances are limited due to piled snow at many intersections so be careful out there! Members are continuing to dig out fire hydrants in the area and will be doing so for the next several days, and we ask that if you are able, please clear snow from any hydrants in your neighborhood.
