Bus Crash in Dayton

Friday the 13th turned out to be a busy day for members of the WFVFD. The day started off at 07:03 with the report of a collision in Dayton in the 5-48 box. Units responded to the 14600 block of Triadelphia Mill Road, near Viburnum Drive, for a rescue with injuries. Units arrived to find a head on collision involving a school bus and a Chevrolet Suburban. The driver of the Suburban, a 17 year old female, was trapped in the SUV and required extrication after which she was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore by Paramedic 56 priority 2. Two passengers in the SUV were uninjured. The driver and passengers on the bus, 5 students who attend Folly Quarter Middle School, were also uninjured.
Howard County Bureau of Highways was requested to respond to assist with cleanup of fluids from the vehicles. According to the Howard County Police Department, investigation revealed that the school bus was traveling east when it crossed the center line and entered the westbound lane where it struck the westbound Suburban.
