Members opened the doors of the station today for the annual Open House. Held every year in October during Fire Prevention Week, our Open House allows members of the community to come see what it is we do. This year, visitors could get tours of our equipment and station, participate in different demonstrations, obtain fire prevention and fire safety information, and even pose with Smokey Bear.
The National Fire Protection Association's Fire Prevention Week begain in 1922 to both commemorate the Great Chicago Fire, which killed more than 250 people in 1871, and to educate people on the importance of fire protection. This year's theme was Hear The Beep Where You Sleep. Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm. Thanks to everyone who visited, Dave Robbins of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forest Service Firewise Program for attending once again with the Plinko game, and Doug Walton who provided some of the following photos.
