Station 3 responded tonight for a reported vehicle accident on I-70. At 23:01, Tower 3, Paramedic 35, Ambulance 36, and Chief 3 responded to I-70 near the Rt. 40 split for an overturned blue vehicle. Units arrived and found the vehicle as reported on eastbound I-70 prior to the Rt. 40 split, on its roof. The sole occupant self extricated prior to arrival of fire department units, but traffic on I-70 was stopped for a short time so the driver's two dogs could be retrieved from the roadway. The driver was transported to Howard County General Hospital with minor injuries and the dogs, uninjured, were turned over to Howard County Police Animal Control. Units cleared at 00:22.
