Squad 3, returning from a couple of runs this morning, picked up the fully involved auto on westbound I-70 near Rt. 40, arriving first on scene. (Squad 3 is running in place of Tower 3 while it is in the shop.) Squad 3 shut down I-70 so Engine 81 could make access eastbound in the westbound lanes, stabilized the vehicle, and handled the forcible entry into the engine compartment while Chief 3B held the I-70 command. After extinguishing the fire, the incident was turned over to Maryland State Police and State Highway Administration's CHART. Units cleared at 10:19.
