Units responded this morning for a serious motor vehicle collision on Route 32 in West Friendship. At 06:20 the tones sounded for the rescue with injuries at Route 32 and Stiles Way, bringing Engine 32, Tower 3, Paramedic 35, Paramedic 56, and Chief 3B to the scene. Upon arrival units found a two vehicle collision blocking both directions of Route 32. One driver was still in their vehicle. Tower 3 went to work removing the driver's side rear door in order to extricate the patient while Paramedic 35 began patient care. Upon removal of the door, the driver was transferred to Paramedic 35 and transported Priority 2 to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore. The driver of the second vehicle refused transport.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Sport Utility Vehicle pulled out of a driveway on Route 32 in front of a vehicle traveling southbound, causing a T-bone collision. Route 32 remained closed until about 07:30 while Howard County Police and Bill's Towing cleared the scene.
