Cookout and Unveiling of Memorial Plaque

By Fire Fighter/EMT Pieter Lucas
April 24, 2014

Members gathered last evening with former members, career and contingent staff, and the Hoffman family to remember our friend Luke Hoffman. On April 25, 2007 WFVFD member Luke died in the line of duty as a Montgomery County Police Officer after graduating from the police academy less than a year prior. FF/EMT/Chaplain Jeff Sturgess designed and built a beautiful memorial for the firehouse entrance that includes plaques naming past WFVFD Presidents, Chiefs, and Life Members as well as a brief history of the Department.
The Hoffman family was invited for a cookout dinner and to see the unveiling of the memorial along with the special plaque honoring Luke. Luke will be remembered every time we rush past on our way to jump on the engine. As always, but especially tomorrow on the seventh anniversary of Luke's passing, Luke and his family will be in our thoughts.
