At 12:03 this afternoon, the station was alerted for the barn fire in the 15100 block of Roxbury Road in Glenelg. Units arrived to find an approximately 50 foot by 100 foot barn with fire showing. Due to the large amount of fire crews began a defensive operation utilizing foam to protect exposures and extinguish the fire. Tanker 3 and Engine 32 participated in the water supply operation, utilizing the cistern at Route 97 and Longfield Road. Howard County Bureau of Highways was requested to respond with a Gradall excavator to assist in removing several bales of hay from the barn that were on fire. No injuries were reported, however five sheep perished in the blaze. Rehab 1, housed at Station 3 for March and April, also responded. The fire was declared out at 15:36.
