Station 3 responded to Marriottsville this morning for the motor vehicle collision. At 6:59 the tones sounded for a personal injury accident on Marriottsville Road at I-70. Engine 31 and Paramedic 35 were tied up on a medical call off of Triadelphia Road so EMS2 arrived to find a two vehicle head on collision on Marriottsville Road at the on-ramp to Eastbound I-70 with no entrapment, however one of the vehicles was on fire. Units packaged and transported one driver to Howard County General Hospital while the other was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Water from extinguishing the fire froze on the roadway and Marriottsville Road remained shut down until 8:52 while waiting for Maryland State Highway Administration to respond and salt the road and ramp to I-70. Chief 3A held the command and units cleared at 9:17.
