| The members of the West Friendship VFD are proud to announce the arrival of the new Tower 3 today. A 2012 Rosenbauer Cobra 104' platform on a Spartan Gladiator LFD chassis, it replaces a 2003 American LaFrance Eagle mid-mount platform that was sold to the Belfast Fire Department in Belfast, Maine. Engine 32, delivered in the summer of 2011, is also a Rosenbauer Spartan Gladiator LFD.
The new Tower has a 550 horsepower Cummins ISX engine, Whelen LED emergency lights, an aluminum body with roll-up doors, and a Harrison 30kW hydraulic generator to supply power to a pair of Hannay cord reels; the Tower will be equipped with a full complement of rescue equipment. The vehicle is slightly shorter than the old Tower at 41'9" long and 12'2" high.
Members spent the weekend with representatives from Rosenbauer and DPC Emergency Equipment for training and familiarization on the unit. The Tower will be officially placed in service in the beginning of April once familiarization is complete and equipment is mounted. WFVFD would like to thank the community for its continued support that enables us to update our equipment so we can continue to provide the best service possible. |
