At 13:42 this afternoon, the station was alerted for a reported fire at the Glenelg Country School located at 12793 Folly Quarter Road in the 5-15 box. Upon arrival Engine 51 found a 20' x 30' classroom trailer behind the high school building with fire showing from the roof. Engine 31, second arriving engine, used a cistern located on the school grounds as a water supply and supplied Engine 51 who by this time had advanced an attack line to the alpha side of the structure. Tankers 3, 34, and 17 (from the WFVFD) assisted with water supply, and units from WFVFD cleared at 15:09. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical.
Glenelg Country, a private school opened in 1954, is the site of the Glenelg Manor from which the nearby community gets its name. Believed to have been built in the mid eighteenth century by the Howard family, the house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was not damaged in the fire.
