Station 3 responded for a brush fire in the Glenelg area today. At 16:00 units were alerted for smoke in the area of Rosway Court, but the caller advised it appeared the fire was located north of his residence possibly off of Pfefferkorn Road. Units responded to the area and found brush and rubbish on fire in a front yard in the 3800 block of Pfefferkorn Road. The homeowner advised they attempted to burn a small amount of trash but the fire spread throughout the yard. Crews made quick work of the fire and cleared at 17:05.
True to the sense of the holiday at hand, while extinguishing the fire it was brought to the attention of Engine 31's operator by the owner of the property that a sheep had just lambed. A ewe was born fifteen minutes into the operation and was given the name "Smokey."
We would like to wish all mothers a happy Mother's Day!
