| Units from West Friendship responded along with units from around the county for a house fire in Ellicott City early this morning. At 00:49, the alarm was sounded for a possible house on fire in the 9800 block of Middle Meadow Road. The 911 caller advised that the garage was on fire and that the occupants of the home were evacuating.
Engine 71 arrived to find a two story single family home with heavy fire showing and with several exposures (neighboring homes) endangered.
Crews began a defensive operation while protecting the exposures, after which crews made entry to extinguish the remaining fire in on the first and second floors. Upon arrival, Engine 31 was tasked with salvage and overhaul operations on the second floor and Engine 32 reported to staging. Tower 3 was assigned RIT duties with Tower 10, and Paramedic 36 was dispatched later in the incident to fill in at Station 2. The occupants of the home are being assisted by the Red Cross and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
