| At 19:28 this evening during a thunderstorm Station 3 and surrounding companies were alerted for the possible barn fire in the 2500 block of McKendree Road. The caller advised Howard County Communications that the 50' x 75' barn was full of straw and some equipment but no animals were inside.
Engine 32, first arriving engine, dropped supply line halfway down the driveway and proceeded to the barn where they pulled the blitz line and a crosslay. Engine 31 arrived soon after and completed the hose lay and became the relay pumper for the remainder of the incident.
Water supply was established and companies utilized the cisterns at Bushy Park Elementary School, Route 97 and Longfield Drive, Monticello Drive, and the Glenwood Library to shuttle water to two folding tanks set up on McKendree Road where Engine 41 was the dump site engine. Tower 10's master stream was placed into service once a water supply was established.
Chief 3 had the command, and units remained on scene until 01:35. It should be noted that this call was Engine 32's first working fire and Tower 3 was pulled to a 7 box in Columbia just prior to this call. |
