| The West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department has organized a raffle to benefit the Sykesville Freedom-District Fire Department's building reconstruction fund. The roof collapse and fire on February 11 has left much of the station, including the banquet hall, administrative offices, and sleeping areas unusable. To help our neighbors to the north, the WFVFD (supported by the member stations of the Howard County Volunteer Fireman's Association) is offering a $1000 give-a-way raffle. Tickets are $5 each, or 5 for $20. The drawing will be held at the Sykesville Carnival on June 26, 2010. Checks can be made payable to the West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department.
