Units responded this afternoon for a reported rescue with entrapment and fire in Ellicott City. At 14:01, Tower 3 and Paramedic 35 were alerted to Baltimore National Pike at Marriottsville Road for a two vehicle collision, box 40-062. Callers stated that one vehicle was overturned and one was on fire. Upon arrival units confirmed a two vehicle collision between a work van and a sedan with fire but no entrapment. Paramedics 35, 85, and 45 began treatment of the three patients - two were flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma via Maryland State Police Troopers 1 and 2, while the third patient was transported to Sinai Hospital by ground. Route 40 remained closed until approximately 20:45 while crews worked to contain and remove chemicals that were in the van and tow the vehicles. Thanks again to Doug Walton, DFRS Office of Public Information, for the pictures.
